The Carl Zeiss Jena 50mm f/2.8 is a practical, minimalistic vintage lens that features rock-solid all metal body construction. While not the sharpest lens, its real super power is how resistant it is to flare.

This lens renders very well balanced images, making it very well suited for black and white photography. The dreamy quality you get off-center with the aperture wide open is ideal for portraits.  At f/4 the lens starts to become more sharp and is very sharp by f/8. Contrast also increases at this aperture.
